There are many commonly asked questions that receive at American Drug Source. If your questions are not answered here, feel free to e-mail us at: question@americandrugsource.com
Do I require a prescription to order?
Yes! Just like your local pharmacy we require a valid prescription from a licensed U.S. physician. A website advertising that they can ship you medication without a prior prescription may not be acting in your best interest, and may not ship quality, brand name medication.
Why are prices so low compared to U.S. pharmacies?
The Canadian government negotiates on behalf of Canada’s national health care system and puts a limit on how much pharmaceutical manufacturers can charge for brand name drugs when they are approved. The U.S. dollar also buys more in Canada due to favorable exchange rates. These two factors give U.S. citizens access to safe and reliable medications for up to 80% less than you would pay at home.
Are all drugs less expensive in Canada?
No, but the vast majority are. Canadian produced generic medications can also increase your savings further. United States Congress did a study on the Canadian pharmaceutical industry and found the safety and efficacy of Canadian medications is equal that of their U.S. equivalents. How do I order?
Simply print, fill out and fax your order form with your prescription to 1-866-366-4127 or order from our online store. Once your forms and prescriptions have been received, they are reviewed by a licensed Canadian physician., and then sent to our pharmacy for a further review and filling. We generally fill your order within 3 days, but shipping time can take 10 to 14 days of additional time. You should order at least 20 days before you require your medication.
Are all American prescription drugs available?
Not all drugs available in the U.S. are available in Canada, and others may have a different name in Canada. We have over 3,000 prescription medications available for your use, however we do not ship some addictive and liquid medications. These products are either restricted or may be damaged in shipping. We try to ship all of our orders in sealed manufacturers quantities so that your safety is assured.
Why do some drugs have different names in Canada?
These are trade or brand names registered by the manufacturer. In different countries manufacturers will often use different trade names for marketing purposes. The medications still have the same active ingredients, but may look different. Our licensed pharmacists review each order carefully, and are available to speak with you if you have any questions.
How much does shipping cost?
There is a $9.99 shipping fee per order, not per prescription.
Can I buy Tylenol 3, Valium, codeine or similar medications from your
pharmacy?
No. It is not legal for us to ship any narcotic or controlled substance across the border. In addition, we do not ship certain injectables or liquids to ensure your safety and the integrity of the product.
Is there a limit on how much I can buy?
Yes. Clients may only purchase a 3 month supply as prescribed by your physician. If you have refills available on your prescription, simply call us and we can process those refills for you very quickly.
Will you accept my insurance policy?
Yes we can. Today some insurance plans are not set up to accept claims directly from a foreign pharmacy at this time. If your insurance company does not have a direct relationship with ADS, you will be issued a receipt with your prescriptions that you may submit to your insurance company, but you should contact your insurance company directly to ensure they will accept it for reimbursement.
For State organizations, Cities, Towns, and other groups, ADS does have a system to accept co-pay or full-pay insurance plans. Contact us immediately to see how easy it is to enroll your group to participate in our co-pay plan.

What do you accept for payment?
ADS is pleased to accept Visa, and MasterCard. We also take void personal
checks that can be processed through EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). International
money orders or certified cashiers checks may also be used, however these methods can delay
your order due to additional processing time.
How long will my order take to process?
It takes approximately 72 hours to process your prescriptions once we have your COMPLETE patient profile and your valid prescription written by a licensed U.S. physician. Shipping time varies depending on a number of factors, but generally takes and additional 10-14 days. Your order can be delayed if:
- Your order is incomplete or we can’t reach you by telephone to confirm your order with you.
- Our physicians or pharmacists that carefully review your order feel the need for additional information or a consult with your physician.
- Credit information is incomplete or the card can’t be processed. Please ensure all information on your order form is correct.
- There is an increased U.S. Homeland Security alert that affects border procedures.
- The FDA selects your order for inspection at the border, or the customs officers require additional information regarding your shipment.
How can I find out the status of my order?
Call us at 1-866-237-0237 and we will provide you with an up to the minute tracking status number that allows you to track the order through our website. In the future, your on-line account profile will provide a history of all your orders and their status, and will include “One click refills” to speed delivery of your refill orders.
What is your return policy?
All of our prescriptions are filled by a licensed Canadian pharmacy that follows all applicable laws and standards of practice. The law states that: “ The Pharmacist shall not accept the return for use or re-use of any portion of any drug or nonprescription medication.” All sales are final.
